Echoes Below
Stonehollow
"The deeper you go, the older the world becomes. Descend into the silent heart of the earth, where every shadow whispers of a time before history was written."
About the Game
Stonehollow: Echoes Below invites players to explore a layered underground realm shaped by time, erosion, and forgotten history.
What starts as basic caves opens up into these huge rooms and forgotten hallways that'll mess with your sense of direction. There is no single path forward.
Players move at their own pace, examining surroundings, activating ancient mechanisms, and uncovering routes that were never meant to be found again.
The Underground World
Living Stone
The caverns are not static. Subtle environmental changes — shifting rock formations, falling debris, or newly revealed openings — alter how areas connect over time. What was once a dead end may later become a crucial pathway.
Traces of a Lost Civilization
Carved walls, broken statues, and remnants of structures suggest that the underground was once inhabited. These details provide narrative context without direct exposition, allowing players to interpret the past through visual clues.
Puzzle & Navigation Systems
The puzzles are built right into the world - they're not just random challenges thrown at you. Players manipulate stone mechanisms, align structures, and uncover hidden routes to progress deeper underground.
-
Rotate ancient stone rings to open passages
-
Activate pressure platforms to stabilize bridges
-
Use vertical movement to access upper ledges
-
Observe environmental patterns to reveal secrets
Atmosphere & Visual Tone
The visual identity should emphasize scale, texture, and depth.
Surfaces range from smooth worn stone to jagged
formations, while lighting varies from near darkness to soft natural illumination filtering from above. Even though
you're alone down there, it should feel amazing rather than claustrophobic — like discovering a forgotten monument
rather than entering a hostile place.
Exploration Progression
Players descend through multiple layers, each with its own character:
-
Natural caverns
Wild spaces carved by the patient hand of water and eons of time.
-
Structured Halls
Symmetrical monuments built with ancient and flawless geometric precision.
-
Collapsed Zones
Navigate through unstable paths and vertical drops into the dark abyss.
-
Deep Chambers
The silent foundations of the world holding the oldest forgotten ruins.
